How do I make my plot sound less cliche?

It really doesn't sound cliche' there are expectations in certain story genres, this one a fantasy/fairy tale type story you have all the elements here but you need more CONFLICT. Who were Lilliana's parents though (rich, poor etc) So Lilliana is hired help. Good, but would the prince really fall for her at an instant? She's beautiful okay, but the prince could be a snot in the beginning, spoiled or Lilliana could think he's a snot. Where does Icarius meet Lilliana (Icarius sounds like Icarus in the Greek tale of Icarus and Daedalus where Icarus is foolish and he flies to high with his wings and they are melted by the sun, he's warned this would happen by his father Daedalus) I'm just wondering if the name "Icarius" was gotten from "Icarus"; clever if it was. Icarius could be impulsive and pushy, while Lilliana could be practical and grounded. Icarius though if he has a fiance', Thea she's probably not going to want him around Lilliana. If Icarus really loves Lilliana he would be with her no matter what, run away with her or something. Or Thea could have Lilliana kidnapped and Icarus could go looking for her and miss his own wedding. The dark fairy Katia, I'm wondering if Icarius is under some kind of SPELL to marry Thea? He could be put under a spell though. Since the plans involve a sorceress type character. Sounds interesting though. Have fun with it, a little bit Cinderella, a little bit Lord of the Rings, keep writing and good luck. :) They are different rules in fantasy stories than the real world obviously but it helps to have them a little grounded. It sounds like you're working on that.
